Time to Wake Up That Guy From Green Day

Anddddddd....I'm sure my title goes way over some of your heads, but trust me, it's clever. Here are all of my looks from September! It's hard for me to pick just one favorite, but I love the black and white skirt one, the skirt and plaid blazer combo, and definitely the nude ruffle dress/black accessories.

By the way, for those of you who care/remember, I got a 90 on my exam! Woot-woot!

Outfit: Gloomed Over

So a few weeks ago, completely out of the blue, Thomas Jefferson Hospital called me for an interview. It was unexpected because I applied for the externship back in March and figured that my opportunity had long passed. Anywho, here's what I wore to the interview (minus the flower). It was also a very gloomy day. No me gusta :(

Look at Riley watching me take pics!
Also, everyone, do me a favor and check out my cousin Jasmine's blog. She's just getting started, so show her some love!

Outfit:Ruffle-Snuffle

Sorry guys, no clever witticisms today. I've got a test Friday and my whole week is composed of studying.
Wish me luck!

Review: Misikko's Hana Professional Flat Iron

So, a few weeks ago, I got this brand spanking new flat iron. It's funny because flat irons and I haven't been on good terms lately.  I have a ton of heat damage from using the flat iron too hot and too frequently. It destroyed my natural curl. So I retired my flat iron for a bit (about eight months) and my natural curl has finally started to come back.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Here are some pictures of the Hana Flat iron.

Pros:
  • The product was delivered in bubble-wrap. That's an automatic plus for me ;)
  • After use, my hair was actually softer and fluffier than it has been with other flat irons.
  • The packaging was pretty amazing. Not only was it pretty, it came with all sorts of little things. Like a heating pad to put underneath the flat iron. It also came with eye shadow, nail files, an eye-sleepytime-thingy, a few nifty carrying cases, and some other little trinkets.
  • The flat iron heats up really quickly. It was ready to go in under twenty seconds.
  • The flat iron claims that it doesn't damage hair.
  • It also claims that the plates won't fade because they are pure ceramic as opposed to ceramic coated.

Cons:
  • THE PRICE. It's super expensive.
  • Although it is probably the best flat iron I've ever owned, it still doesn't quite measure up to getting my hair done at a salon.

Outfit: Blackbird Singing in the Dead of Night

So...there are no blackbirds in this picture. Nor is it taken in the dead of night. So the title of this post is kind of irrelevant to the actual content. But the song was playing in my head, so there you have it. I like these pants because they're comfy and they're blue, but sadly they looked like Mom Jeans from behind (shock and awe!), so I threw the cardi over it so that I wouldn't look like a miniature soccer mom.

Riley is a primadonna and kept begging to be in the pictures.

Personal Style Feature: Sweater Central

My first Menswear feature! I love these sweaters and would probably wear them myself if I saw them =D
Sweaters: All thrifted from Value Village
Shoes: Vans from Urban Oufitters
Black Jeans: Urban Outfitters

My name is Michel Ghanem and I am a 17 year old student living in Victoria, BC in Canada. I will hopefully be working in the fashion industry one day, but for now I am focusing on finishing my last year of high school. If you know me personally, you should know about my obsessions with sweaters. They are just too perfect for staying warm but looking good at the same time. My 5 most recent Value Village finds are illustrated above, my 'fall/winter sweater collection' for this coming school year. Each sweater was under eight dollars, but are all in excellent condition. Thrifting is one of the best ways to save money in my opinion, especially for us teens who need money the most (in most cases). I have a couple more sweaters in my closet but I wanted to display my most recent one. Now I just need to buy THIS Burberry Prorsum sweater to add to my collection..
stay entertained,
-Michel

Friend Feature

This is my friend Pratty. Isn't she adorable? I'm so jealous of the vest she has on. She and her mom made it out of a jean vest and some scraps of lace. Ca-yoot!

Outfit: Wax on, Young Grasshopper

This was a pretty fun outfit, I have to admit. I wore it to school today, mostly without the nerd glasses. At first I felt silly with them on and took em off. But when I got to class, I saw that my entire row had similar frames and I threw them on anyway. We were a  fabulous row.

When I went to get the mail before taking these pictures, I found this little dude chillin on the mailbox. It was pretty cool and he just sat there for a good five minutes posing for my pictures. I admit, I was pretty scared he would jump right in my face, but luckily, he didn't! I don't know why I'm calling him a He, but I imagine that all grasshoppers are males. But this is impossible, because if all grasshoppers were males, then there would be no grasshoppers to reproduce with. Hmmm...I guess I should stop rambling now. Toodles!

Personal Style Feature: Keeping it Casual

My name is Devon, I'm 17-years-old, and I'm from England. When I was 15-years-old, my family and I moved to the Highlands of Scotland, and I love it here. My passions are playing the piano, composing music, long walks, photography, films, books, and travelling. And, of course, blogging. I always throw on something comfortable when I go out on my walks, but I try to do it as stylishly as I can!

Dark blue denim jeans: Matalan, £14
Brown striped top: Henri Lloyd, £25 on sale
White lace bow hairclip: Forever 21, £3 for four

Outfit: H&M

So, after I was putting this outfit up, I realize that I am wearing head to toe H&M (even the accessories and the shoes). It's obviously my favorite store ever and they're going to be shipping to the US next year! This is either a very bad thing or a very good thing, I'm not sure which yet. Anyway, I wore this to church. It's a little more "business-y" than anything I'd usually wear, but I still love it. Next year when I'm looking for jobs, I'll definitely be rocking this ensemble ;)

Makeup, Makeup on a Saturday Night

So these pictures weren't actually taken on a Saturday night. For those who weren't raised on Disney Channel in the early 2000s, the title comes from a Hilary Duff song. Not that you cared. Moving on...

One of my favorite things to do is put on makeup. There's something so fun about putting on mascara and eyeliner or experimenting with different looks. I get the same feeling from makeup that most people probably get from getting a massage or going to the spa.

Believe it or not, I was never ever ever this girly. While my cousins and sister were playing barbies and house, I was playing video games and basketball with the boys. I didn't even start wearing makeup until I was 18! How did this happen??

P.S. If you like the glimpses of my outfit in these pictures, come back tomorrow for more!

What's on my face:
Maybelline Falsies Mascara
Prestige Liquid Eyeliner
Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse Foundation
L'Oreal Colour Riche in Blushing Berry

Outfit: Smile!

I've been browsing around the blogosphere, admiring other bloggers' pictures and I've been noticing something: some of their best pictures are the serious-faced ones where they look all gorgeous and model-like. So the other day, when I went out to take an outfit picture, I said to myself "You know what, Self? You can't seem to NOT smile in any of your pictures! It's time to do it like those other gals! You could be Tyra 2.0."

Needless to say, that failed. I won't regale you with the attempted pictures. Crystin the Model is not going to happen, although that ship pretty much sailed away from me when I never managed to grow past 5'1". I'm a smiler (and yes, I made up that word)! I can't help it. It seems that I can't be serious-faced for more than two seconds without feeling all awkward and pretentious. I'm awkward enough as it is without adding anything extra!

And on that note, enjoy my smile =D
